Handwoven textile purse featuring traditional Zapotec designs made by a family of weavers in Teotitlàn Del Valle.

Wool textile with leather straps/clasp, and cotton lining with pockets.

First a tapete (textile) is woven on a pedal loom, which typically takes 15 days to complete. Next, the textile is sewn together  to the shape of a bag using a pedal sewing machine. The final step is adding the leather straps to the bag. *See Photos of Process Below
